Three legendary rock bands are teaming up for what is sure to be the tour of the summer. Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick are heading out on the concert trail starting July 9 in Denver, CO. Seattle Children's Theatre is hosting its annual gala, "Backstage", on April 28th 2008. Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, whose songs are among the finest in “American Idol” history, showed up for a duet with Fergie on their classic hit, “Barracuda.” Backstage, they talked about why their songs seem to be so popular on the show – even though they don’t watch it.
“The songs have a lot of range to them, and, you know, they’ve got good melodies and you’ve got to be a singer to sing them,” singer Ann Wilson said. “You can’t just slop your way through it.”
Guitarist Nancy Wilson said that even though they don’t watch the show, they hear about it and see the results.
“People are talking about it,” she said. “We’re, like, ‘What? They’re doing Heart music? That’s great.’ And we see the results when we’re live when school is not in session for our kids throughout the summer and all these younger and younger kids just this last summer kept coming out, which has to be ‘American Idol’ and ‘Guitar Hero’ at work. Great! That’s fine!”

Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, wisely wearing rubber pants, did a series of one-armed walk-overs and slithered the stage as she stole the thunder and upstaged a pair of classic rock doyennes, Nancy and Ann Wilson of Heart.
The blogosphere erupted in a mostly negative reaction to the musical Diva toe-stepping, inspiring DListed.com's Michael K to write, "Everyone loves Heart. EVERYONE! If you say you don't, you're lying."
During the Idols Give Back performance last night, Heart performed Barracuda and Fergie immediately ran out on the stage and performed her gymnastics and cat crawls on the stage, singing over Ann Wilson.
Fergie was relieved her tight rubber trousers stayed in one piece as she performed a "one-handed walkover" during the taping of the charity show "Idol Gives Back" on Sunday night.
She told reporters afterwards, "Luckily there were no wardrobe malfunctions."
Fergie is surprised her gymnastics during the rendition of Heart's classic "Barracuda" has created such a fuss -- because she has been performing the move for months.
She explains, "I went through years of gymnastics and I wanted to be a gymnast at one time. ... I was in a show with will.i.am ... and he pulled out this breakdancing move ... and I didn't know what to do because I didn't know any breakdancing moves.
"So I was like, 'OK, I'll just pull out some of my old-school moves.'
"Fans loved it and so I've been putting it in my show and I actually do Barracuda in my set because I sang it for the 'Shrek 3' soundtrack, so that's when I do it."

So we mean no disrespect. But it looks like Heart’s Nancy Wilson made a ridiculous faux pas while doing a press conference for “American Idol.” (Lots of “Idol” this morning, but trust us on this one…)
When asked what she thinks of Paula Abdul’s talents, Nancy surprisingly waxes waaaay poetic about her music, calling her new single “velvety.” (As velvety as this…?) Problem is, she’s talking about another famous pop/R&B diva. You know, one who’s not actually judging the major, major show they’re guesting on.

I guess that this whole big American Idol charity show taped last night, and part of it involved a performance by Ann Wilson of Heart, one of the best female vocalists ever, and Fergie, one of the best female impersonators ever.
Since there was absolutely no way for Fergie to shine in under these singing circumstances, it looks as though she busted out some acrobatics during the performance, in order to maintain some semblance of relevance. I guess we’ll see for ourselves when the show airs.

Bad Animals was Hearts 9th studio album, and it was released in 1987. The album was a hit, scoring triple platinum sales. It contained the hit number one single "Alone."It was a Billboard Hot 100 number one single from July 11, 1987 - July 25, 1987 and knocked "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)" by Whitney Houston out of the top spot. "Who Will You Run To" and "There's the Girl" achieved considerable airplay as well.
"Alone" is a song composed in 1983 by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. It was first recorded by American rock band Heart in 1987.
Steinberg and Kelly were also responsible for writing three other number-one U.S. hits in the 1980s: for Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and The Bangles.
"Alone" is Heart's biggest hit, spending three weeks at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It is also their most successful single in the UK, where it peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart. Paula Abdul was choreographer for the video.
