Heart on Rockline
Heart will be the featured guest on the nationally syndicated radio show ROCKLINE on Wednesday night September 15, 2010 at 8:30pm PT / 11:30pm ET. Fans are encouraged to call to speak with Heart at 1-800-344-ROCK (7625). For a station near you and for information regarding how to log onto the Internet for the broadcast go to www.RocklineRadio.com This show will be streamed for two weeks on the Rockline website beginning the evening after the broadcast.
From the Rockline website - Heart has a new album called “Red Velvet Car”. Is it good? Will it be lucky number 13 as it’s their thirteenth studio album, but first since “Jupiter’s Darling” in 2004? Are they still relevant? Does it sound like their earlier albums? Does it come across as modern sounding? Was it necessary to release a new album, or could they just continue to tour as a nostalgia band? We feel these are justifiable and warranted questions as they’re questions many listeners and even their diehard fans will want answered. Some of the answers we propose will be subjective, you can fill in the questions with your own remarks, but this much is a stone cold fact, the new album debuted at number ten on the Billboard album chart, their first top ten debut in twenty years and light years ahead of “Jupiter’s” peak position of #94. There’s a solid reason for a debut this high, the buzz on “Red Velvet Car” has been huge because the album is loaded from top to bottom with one great song after another answering the relevancy question in a dramatically affirmative manner. Somehow they’ve managed to create an album that will appeal to their lifelong fans and likely garner new ones as well. At once Classic and contemporary, “Red Velvet Car” is successful because the band plays to their considerable strengths, tremendous vocals and harmonies, jaw-dropping stringed instrument prowess, unique instrumentation, near perfect production and does so within the context of ten extremely well crafted songs. In addition to their upcoming ROCKLINE appearance you can join the band at Heart-Music.com
Garnering positive reviews from an eclectic group of sources, we can’t wait to hear these new songs live and are more than grateful that the band has chosen to not become a nostalgia band, Heart continues to grace us with compelling new songs like “WTF” and “Safronia’s Mark” as well as “Hey You” and “Death Valley”. In fact, for those of us who work on the show we’ve come to realize that everyone seems to have a different favorite song and that they seem to change from one listen to another. Smart to focus on ten solid songs and not feeling compelled to create a 74 minute long album was one of the best decisions Heart made with this new CD. We just had Black Country Communion on the show featuring Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Glenn Hughes and Heart was a major topic of discussion. Sparked by the fact that BCC needed to leave an Encore Question (one of our weekly features) for Ann and Nancy Wilson, our guests on this week’s show, we had an extended off the air conversation about the band. Ann and Nancy are legendary Led Zeppelin fans and Jason contributed some heartfelt comments about “his dad’s band” and how they were fans of Heart as well. Joe Bonamassa joined in with a comment about Nancy’s deft acoustic guitar work and her “Live at McCabe’s” solo album. Glenn, one of the greatest vocalists ever, complimented Ann and her soaring, indelible voice. There’s still a lot to like about Heart and “Red Velvet Car” puts it on full display.
Join us so you can pose your own questions. It’s Heart exclusively on our next ROCKLINE!

St. Charles, MO Family Arena Review/Photos

Riverfront Times
Heart's new album, Red Velvet Car, suggests a return to its proverbial roots, so you'd forgive the band if they wanted to leave the '80s behind. However, last night's set at the Family Arena was - for better or worse - a combination of all eras, right up to the present. Or, as singer Ann Wilson put it early in the set, "a voyage through Heartland" that would require us to "open up and let our souls sing out." As it turns out, the voyage was fantastic at its beginning and end, but slow going in the middle.

On Saturday, they'll play the Family Arena in St. Charles. This year, the sisters — Nancy is 56 and Ann is 60 — filmed an upcoming DVD, "Heart: Night at Sky Church" in Seattle. If that March concert is any indication of what they'll play this weekend, expect new songs from the album "Red Velvet Car," which was released this week, and old hits including "Crazy on You."
Nancy Wilson spoke recently by phone from Albuquerque, N.M., about the the album and the rock scene today.
