Heart at Caesars Windsor - video

Fantasy strings and Heart producer Ben Mink performing at Ceasars Windsor on July 28th, 2012. According to Heartlinker, this was filmed for DVD! I was wondering why Ann and Nancy looked more dolled up than usual. Ann looks and sounds amazing, especially with the strings backing her! This almost reminds me of The Road Home.

“They’re even better than what you hear on the album,” Nadine Russell of seeing the sisters perform live. “They were beyond my expectations.”

Heart continues late-career surge at Stage AE

It was one of those rare summer days where it stormed and spit rain for hours, to the point where it looked like Stage AE's "rain or shine" policy might be put to the water test.

Then, just after Heart went on, around 9:15 p.m., it fizzled out.

"I think we scared it away," Nancy Wilson said, "with our ROCK." Read more.

Heart's Nancy Wilson Q&A: Cocaine, '80s Hair and Not Being an 'Old Codger'

Spinner.com - Few bands have been able to survive as long or as successfully as Heart. Credit for much of that goes to the band's ability to rise and fall with the sounds of the time. The group -- led by singer Ann Wilson and her sister, guitarist Nancy Wilson -- came to life nearly 40 years ago, enjoying immediate success with raw rock anthems "Crazy on You" and "Barracuda." The band's biggest hits though came a decade later when it morphed into a radio-friendly pop act, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard charts with "These Dreams" and "Alone." Bolstered by the successes of other bands from their hometown of Seattle, the Wilsons and co. returned to a more rock and folk sound through the '90s.

Now, Ann and Nancy Wilson are celebrating their long legacy via Strange Euphoria, a three-CD set of songs chosen by the sisters that highlights not only their successes and deep album cuts, but also sprinkles in demo versions, live tracks and solo material.

Spinner was able to catch up with Nancy Wilson at her California home to talk about this new box set, the influence that Heart has had on other female artists and how the band is faring in the Spotify age. Read more.

Heart feels the love at Artpark

It was billed as highly anticipated, and Heart's show at Artpark proved to be well worth the wait. The Wilson sisters and their Heart bandmates filled the amphitheatre with beautiful music from every era of their remarkable career, and threw in a few new songs as well.

The sell-out crowd was treated to a flawless performance that began shortly after 8:15 p.m. with the title cut from the bands forthcoming album, "Fanatic." The Artpark crowd received the song well. Read more.

NewLenoxPatch - When residents headed toward the Village Commons for the Heart concert on Friday, July 20, they were greeted with mid-70 degree weather for the first time in a while. It was hard not to find a person enjoying themselves at the second part of the 2012 Triple Play Concert Series.

First, Hit Parade took the stage by playing many covers of hard rock songs from the 1970's and 80's.

Next, Naperville native and ex-American Idol contestant Gina Glocksen took the stage around 7:15 p.m. Glocksen paused a few times during her act to say how 'cool' it was to be performing at the Village Commons.

"Dreams do come true," she said of the opportunity to open for Heart.

Heart appeared a few minutes earlier than its 9 p.m. scheduled start. The hard rock band had the crowd bobbing their heads to songs such as "Crazy on You" and "Barracuda" throughout the night.

Heart: Try to understand, it's a magic band

Does being a rock 'n' roll star and performing in front of thousands and thousands of singing, fist-pumping, hand-clapping fans ever get old?

What do you think?

"No, that would not be old," Heart lead singer Ann Wilson says.

The vocalist behind a heap of hit songs says, "That's why we do this, is because we have something to say. We really do want to get with people and do our thing and connect with them." Read more.

Heart and Shawn Colvin coming Nov. 2 to St. Augustine Amphitheatre

7/16/12

Heart will perform Nov. 2 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre with special guest Shawn Colvin.

Shawn Colvin is one of the leading lights of the so-called new folk movement that began in the late 80s. Although she grew out of the somewhat limited “woman with a guitar” school, she kept the form fresh with a diverse approach, avoiding the genre’s clichéd sentiments and all too often formulaic arrangements in favor of a more personal, pop-influenced style. Colvin’s debut record won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 1991, but it was her 1997 single “Sunny Came Home” that firmly catapulted her into the mainstream.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday, July 20th at 10am at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and Ponte Vedra Concert Hall box offices. Enjoy complimentary coffee and snacks courtesy of the Amphitheatre on Friday morning while waiting in line for tickets. Tickets also will be available at findmytix.com, all Ticketmaster outlets, at ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 800-745-3000.

Jody Miller - Crazy On You (1979)

7/13/12

Mauro, a reader of the Heart Monger Blog, shared this video in the comments. I had seen this on youtube and wasn't really impressed, so I never posted it. Although I respect the effort, Jody doesn't really have the chops for this song. The country/orchestral aspects really drain the rock edge out of the song as well. What do you think?

Hudson Gardens and Event Center - Review and Photos

Even in the rain, Hudson Gardens Heart shines through

Ann and Nancy Wilson brought their Fanatic 2012 Tour to The Hudson Gardens And Event Center. The show of course was a sell out. After a forty five minute rain delay, the sisters took the stage along with the rest of the group that makes Heart the envy of lots of fans. Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson showed the world that women can still rock and the braved the wind, rain and high altitude. But nothing stopped these two from providing a fantastic show. Later in the show when the rain subsided and became a gentle mist to keep the crowd cool, the night rocked on with a hot summer concert. Read more.

Ten Reasons Why Heart is Badass

Heart is playing at 8 p.m. on July 4 at Fair St. Louis. In celebration of this free event, we've made you a short list of reasons why Heart is badass. Enjoy.

01. Heart is run by badass bitches.
At the core of Heart is two sisters: Ann and Nancy Wilson. So let's just get this out of the way: They are women. No, that shouldn't matter. And it doesn't matter as much now as it did in the '70s when Heart was pretty much the only major band run by women with all of the decisions being made by women, but let's acknowledge it. They are each the H.B.I.C. And they are talented as fuck. But please don't call them women who rock. Barf. They just rock, okay? And they've been doing it for almost 40 years, so fuck you if you don't think that broads are badass.

LOL I love it, and it's so true!
